Port de Pollença is one of the best destinations in north Mallorca for eating out with a reputation for both quality and a varied cuisine. Diners are catered for with a wide range of restaurants from simple traditional family fare to superb menus featuring the very best in fine dining.

The town is a gastronomic delight with bars and restaurants galore around the bay and the main square at Plaça Miguel Capllonch, plus many of the streets in the north of the town where there is an eclectic selection of small cafes and tapas bars. You can relax and dine in some stunning locations with amazing views and wonderful food, including a Michelin starred restaurant; one of only nine on Mallorca.

7. Los Zarzales

Los Zarzales Mallorcan Restaurant, situated close to La Gola on the Carrer Jafuda Creaques, is perfect if you’re looking for a typical taste of the Island. Seasonal locally produced ingredients are the essence of Mallorcan cuisine and this, coupled with an excellent wine cellar specialising in local wines, ensures that Los Zarzales is a place you will want to return to.

Traditionally prepared courses of Serra de Tramuntana lamb and goat and locally caught fish are often complemented by live entertainment during the tourist season. Try your hand at one of the cooking workshops held at this venue which have become very popular! Open daily from 10.00 am to 11.00pm expect to pay around £30.00 per head excluding wines for à la carte. Tapas and snacks are also on offer and there is a children’s menu.

6. Celler La Parra

Founded in 1962 by the current owners’ grandparents and located in Carrer Juan XXIII Celler La Parra continues to serve the very best in traditional wood-fired Mallorcan specialities using the freshest local produce. With a high standard of customer service, this restaurant is a popular venue for both locals and tourists alike. Open from Tuesday through to Sunday from 9.00am until 11.00pm the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect to pay in the region of £24.00 per head for an evening meal.

5. Himalaya Indian Nepalese Restaurant

Fancy a change from Mediterranean fare? Probably the best restaurant of its type in Port de Pollença, the Himalaya Indian Nepalese Restaurant is a relatively new edition to the dining experience that the Port has to offer having been established for just a year. Located along the front on Passeig d’Anglada Camarasa the Himalaya is open daily from 5.00pm to 11.00 pm.

Serving traditional Indian and Nepalese dishes to eat in or take away, expect to pay around the same as a good Indian Restaurant in the UK. Customers rave about the quality of service and food on offer.

4. Stay Restaurant

Popular with returning tourists, Stay Restaurant located on a jetty within the Marina is open 365 days a year and serves a choice of menus from modern Mediterranean to à la carte or tapas. In addition to à la carte and snack menus the restaurant also provides a three course menu of the day every day for around £30.00 including coffee.

Described as specialising in Mediterranean, European and Spanish dishes and serving a wide selection of locally sourced fish and shellfish, vegetarians and vegans are also catered for and gluten free dishes are available.

3. Norai Pintxos and Wine Bar

Located on the Passeig Saralegui facing the harbour, this lively pintxos and wine bar is one of the few places within Port de Pollença that stays open until the early hours and where you can always get something to eat. Pintxos is a Basque word meaning small snack and it differs from traditional tapas in that it is normally served skewered or on a cocktail stick.

With live music and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, many visitors return almost nightly during their stay in the area. Open daily from 9.00am until 4.00am, so ideal for night owls!

2. Portofino Restaurant

Opened in late 2015 and named after the famous fishing village on the Italian Riviera, this popular Italian restaurant is located on Carrer Joan XXlll and has become well known for its wood fired pizzas and homemade pasta dishes. There is an atmospheric courtyard to the rear and a daily three course set menu, with a glass of wine, offering excellent value.

The restaurant is child friendly and is accessible for wheelchairs. Open for lunch and dinner, Portofino also provides a Take Away service.

1. Can Cuarassa

Located on the beach front some 3 kilometres from Port de Pollença on the road to Alcúdia is the wonderful can Cuarassa Restaurant. Set in the grounds of a traditional Mallorcan finca, summer dining is predominantly al fresco on terraces surrounded by beautiful gardens overlooking Pollença bay, whilst winter dining is set within the building and conservatory with a similar view across the water. The kitchen specialises in fine dining with locally caught sea food and grilled meats featuring prominently whilst snacks and tapas are also available. Vegetarians and gluten free diets are catered for.

The daily three course set menu is particularly good value for around £30.00 and includes water, half a bottle of wine and coffee. Can Cuarassa is a sister restaurant of Stay (reviewed earlier) and is open for lunch from 12.00 noon and dinner from 6.30pm. This restaurant is ideal for that special night out or a celebration, or for a romantic evening away from the hustle and bustle of Port de Pollença and the nearby towns.
