Beach bars in mallorca

If you are holidaying in Puerto Pollensa and fancy a change of scenery why not enjoy a gentle ramble along the three mile walk to the beach resort of Cala San Vincente? In this picturesque resort there are a number of bars in which you will be able to quench your thirst, all of which also serve snacks or more substantial fare.

The 4 Star Hoposa Hotel Niu at 5, Calle Cala Barques is a small beach hotel overlooking the largest beach in Cala San Vincente. Open to non-residents, the bar on the terrace serves a wide range of food and alcoholic and soft drinks and is a wonderful area from which to watch the world go by.

Bar Mallorca, located across the road from the beachfront at Calle Cala Molins, is a casual place to sit and enjoy wonderful views whilst sipping a cold beer or cocktail or just taking a cup of coffee and slice of home made cake.

With outside seating and a menu offering breakfast, lunch and dinner this venue is popular with cyclists, many of whom use it as a pit stop during their training or touring around the Tramuntana region. For those staying in the resort and using the beach, Bar Mallorca is ideally located. Closed on Wednesdays and open from 9.30 am until 9.00 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and from Thursday to Sunday its hours are 9.30 am closing at 11.30 pm.

Whilst not on the beach, but just around the corner across the car park from Bar Mallorca is family run Pepe’s Bar, located at Carrer Torrent de Can Botana. This traditional little bar and restaurant has a large shady terrace with views over the sea and serves inexpensive, basic but tasty locally sourced food including fresh tapas, meat and fish dishes, paellas and pizzas. The grilled sardines are a particularly popular choice! The beer is chilled and welcome warm, so whether you are looking for a bite to eat, a lazy lunchtime tipple or just a pre dinner drink then Pepe’s fits the bill. Closed on Saturdays but otherwise open daily from midday to 3.00 pm and 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm. Credit cards are not accepted so remember to take cash.

There are a number of beach bars in and around Pollensa and Alcudia Bays. Otherwise known as ‘Chiringuitos’ in Spanish, meaning a small bar, often serving tapas, these informal bars are ideal for those relaxing on the beach who don’t want the bother changing to a more formal attire! La Roca, located on Llenaire Beach at 4, Via Alemanya, Puerto Pollensa has been around for a while and is your archetypal beach bar set directly on the sand. Serving both alcohol, soft drinks and coffee together with a basic food menu, La Roca is open daily throughout the season from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm. There is live music on Saturdays.

Closer to the centre of Puerto Pollensa on the beach in front of the Hotel Uyal is Embat Chiringuitos Beach, a modern upmarket beach bar serving beers, wonderful cocktails and a menu which includes breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Open daily from 9.00 am until midnight throughout the season, Embat frequently hosts live music sessions. The bar is accessible to wheelchair users and there is free off street parking nearby. There is a take away menu for those wishing to eat off the premises.

Llaut Beach Bar, in front of Puerto Pollensa’s Plaza Joan Cerda, is a recent addition to the beach bar scene and is owned by the same group who run Embat.

Like Embat they are gaining a reputation for their cocktails and are open daily from 9.00 am until midnight with a limited menu serving breakfasts, brunch, lunches, dinner and light snacks.

Probably one of the oldest established beach bars in Puerto Pollensa is Tamarells Bar Restaurant, on the beach off Passeig de Londres near its junction with Carrer del Bot. Open daily from 8.30 am to 12.30 am this is a busy bar and restaurant serving basic but tasty fare, try the paella, its very good!

If you travel south of Alcudia to the beautiful Playa de Muro near Ca’n Picafort, a slightly more upmarket and popular venue, Can Gavella can be found.

Open daily from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm and serving a wide range of drinks this bar also serves excellent food. Chill out with your feet in the sand whilst gazing out to sea across Alcudia Bay.

The Ponderosa Beach is located on the beach at the far south end of Playa de Muro. The lunch menu is varied and offers everything from a delicious seafood paella, steak, pasta, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes – there’s something to suit everyone.

Be prepared to pay restaurant prices as this is not your usual beach bar on the sand serving simple snacks. There is a good selection of wines, beers and spirits and delicious home made ice creams. Ponderosa is open daily throughout the season from 12.30 pm until 7.00pm. Please note that the kitchen closes at 5.00pm.

Back in Port d’Alcudia, the Mirablau Beach Bar and Restaurant at 13, Carretera de Arta, adjacent to the beach is a favourite haunt for many tourists staying in the area.

Good food, a wonderful location with cold beer and attentive staff means visitors return here time and again. The Mirablau is open daily from 12.30 pm until 10.30 pm. Just let your hair down, relax and chill out whilst enjoying one of the house cocktails!
