One thing to bear in mind if you choose to stay in Alcudia old town is that there are a number of churches within the town’s walls whose bells chime as the hours pass through the night and some of the hotels are within a close proximity of these churches. A few guests have commented in the past that the sounds keep them awake whilst others find the chimes comforting or don’t hear them at all.
This beautiful, elegant, 4 star boutique hotel located in the centre of Alcúdia Old Town is a converted 15th century typical Mallorcan manor house complete with Gothic features sympathetically blended with a modern style.
The eight air conditioned bedrooms are unique and individually styled.
The lounge and spa area create a stunning area and two of the guestrooms are located in the tower of the old building complete with their own private access.
Every one of the over 100 English entries on Trip Advisor rate this hotel as excellent and many of its guests are returning visitors.
Alcúdia Old Town has some wonderful restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the Can Mostatxins.
2. Hotel Sant Jaume
This small family run hotel is a converted 19th century home within the ancient walls of Alcúdia Old Town.
Located down a peaceful narrow street yet within a few hundred yards of cafes, bars and restaurants the hotel has 6 guest rooms furnished in an antique style, some with four poster beds.
The hotel is reasonably priced and popular with couples and singles who are looking from a central location from which to tour the area without the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts.
Complimentary continental breakfast is served daily from a romantic courtyard surrounded by a beautiful garden.
There is a cosy guest lounge and the ambience throughout is one of peaceful relaxation where guests are treated to exemplary and friendly service.
3. Hotel Ca’n Pere
Another centrally located 19th century house conversion set in a narrow street in Alcúdia Old Town, this 4 star boutique hotel has a warm romantic atmosphere and includes a courtyard restaurant open to non residents.
There is a bar/lounge for guests and the large bedrooms have four poster or canopy beds. Rooms either have a balcony, patio or are equipped with a private Jacuzzi.
As with all the accommodation within the ancient walls of Alcúdia you are never very far from cafes, restaurants and bars and are ideally located to explore all that the region has to offer.
4. Can Tem
This friendly small boutique hotel in a pedestrianised street in Old Town Alcúdia offers exceptional service provided by the owners and contains six individually styled, light, spacious, clean and comfortable rooms all with air conditioning.
The 17th century house retains many of its original features and offers good value for the standard of accommodation on offer.
Breakfast is served in the small secluded courtyard.
There is no restaurant although there are plenty to choose from a short walk away. Enjoy the local market on Tuesdays and Sundays.
5. Hotel Cas Ferrer Nou
Originally constructed in the 14th century this beautifully converted blacksmith’s house and forge located just off Alcúdia’s main square has been transformed into a small, chic boutique hotel consisting of six guest rooms.
Each guest room has been designed using a different concept and the building has retained many of its original features including wooden beams and exposed stone walls.
Converted in 2004, Cas Ferrer was one of the first of a new breed of Mallorcan Boutique Hotels designed with the more discerning traveller in mind.
A decked roof terrace which looks out across the old town is a wonderful place to chill in the sunshine or sip a glass of wine or two with a partner under the stars.
The atmosphere of this hotel exudes romanticism, no wonder it is popular with couples.
6. Hotel Morè
What sets this 3 star hotel apart from many of the others in the Port d’Alcúdia area is its quiet location being surrounded by villas as opposed to other hotels.
The hotel can best be described as a typical Spanish holiday hotel.
Overlooking Pollença Bay, the hotel is on the beachfront just a few metres from the sea and is fronted by its swimming pool and sun terrace.
Many of the 126 guest rooms have sea views and balconies and all are air conditioned.
The restaurant is described as buffet style and guests frequently comment on the excellent standard of cleanliness of the rooms and public areas.
Due to its location the hotel is aimed more towards the middle aged and older visitor as there are no night clubs and only one bar nearby.
Having said that, the centre of the resort and all that it has to offer is not too far away but at a distance so as not to interfere with the tranquillity of Hotel Morè’s location.
7. Viva Zafiro Alcudia & Spa
The 5 star Viva Zafiro resort hotel is located in the pedestrian area of Port d’Alcúdia approximately 300 yards from the nearest beach and close to a wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops.
The hotel is a modern ‘all suite’ resort comprising 369 suites spread across six, four storey buildings.
Ideal for families there are some adult only areas including at least one à la carte restaurant (the hotel has four) and a rooftop terrace bar with swimming pool.
There is a further buffet and breakfast restaurant and bistro/cocktail bar.
The hotel has six swimming pools with poolside access available for all ground floor guest suites complemented by a health spa consisting of Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room together with a modern gymnasium.
Children are well catered for with age dependent activity clubs but as with some of the à la carte restaurants these only function during the high season.
8. Son Simo Vell
For something a little different, why not try the Son Simo Vell rural boutique hotel located in the countryside just a few kilometres from Alcúdia Old Town?
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana this working farm produces wine, olive oil, oranges, lemons, vegetables and hens’ eggs.
The farmhouse contains 4 double guest rooms and 4 junior suites all with en suite, air conditioning and heating, free Wi-Fi, mini bar, satellite TV, bathrobes, towels for the swimming pool and a room safe. Breakfast is included with the room rate and dinner must be booked in advance.
Son Simo Vell is an excellent location from which to explore the region and whilst not absolutely necessary, a hire car would be advantageous. There are a number of restaurants within a five minute drive or taxi ride and the nearest beach is ten minutes away.
The hotel is open from July to September and its guests’ reviews are extremely good.
9. Hotel Astoria Playa
The Astoria Playa, in the centre of Port d’Alcúdia, is a modern resort hotel for adults only, ideal for couples and popular with cyclists.
This 4 star hotel comprises of 166 air conditioned guest rooms and suites and is set in private gardens with sun terrace and two swimming pools, three Jacuzzis and mini-golf.
The hotel is close to the sea front and is approximately 150 metres from the nearest beach. Its location means it is close to local amenities including shops, bars and restaurants.
Astoria Playa’s restaurant offers buffet style dining and there is regular evening entertainment.
Two bars are complemented by a cocktail lounge and there is also an outdoor snack restaurant serving light lunches and desserts.
Many of this hotel’s guests are frequent visitors returning year after year.
10. Iberostar Ciudad Blanca
Close to the Astoria Playa and overlooking Alcúdia bay, with direct access to the beach, is the four star Iberostar Ciudad Blanca. This family oriented self-catering resort hotel is located on the beachfront with soft white sand and safe shallow waters, ideal for children. It is less than a mile from Alcúdia’s port.
Accommodation consists of a selection of apartment styles (50²m) which sleep four or studios (30²m) which cater for two, although both types of accommodation can be supplemented with a child’s cot.
All have kitchenettes although the hotel also has three restaurants and two bars.
During the high season there are age related children’s and teenagers’ clubs run by the hotel. Children are well catered for with their own playground and water park.
For adults there is a Spa and massage facility and numerous sports to try your hand at organised by the hotel. Local bars can be found within 100 metres of the resort.
